You will assist in preparing budgets and forecasts for the Human Services Department as we work to obtain grants that will benefit our community. You will provide fiscal grant management, including technical assistance, preparation, and monitoring department budgets and federal regulations while ensuring fiscal integrity.

Position Qualifications

We recognize your time is valuable, so please apply if you meet the following required qualifications.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, public administrative, or a related field


  • One year of experience in budgeting, auditing, government finance, or grant accounting


  • An Associate degree in accounting or related field and three years of experience in budgeting, auditing, government finance, or grant accounting 

Other Requirements 

  • Must obtain Maricopa County Certified Agency Procurement Aide (CAPA) certification within six months of hire
  • Must secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card

Our Preferred Candidate has

  • Experience in the public sector or non-profit accounting or budgeting environment with specific experience in budgeting, auditing, and grants accounting
  • Experience providing technical assistance related to government or non-profit grant accounting, including experience with compliance of federal grant requirements
  • Experience and knowledge of Budgeting for Results, CGI Advantage Financial System, and OnBase
Essential Job Tasks

The tasks listed are a representation and not an all-inclusive list of essential job tasks for this position.

  • Assists in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for the department and individual grants
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies
  • Reviews general ledger and analyzes expenditures, revenues, payroll, accruals, and cost allocations to verify in compliance with County and grants regulations
  • Prepares grant expenditure reports, invoices, and cash draws in compliance with County and grant requirements while reconciling the cash draws
  • Prepares internal and external monthly and quarterly financial status reports that include budget to actual, forecasts, and reconcile variances
  • Utilizes County financial standard reports or creates ad-hoc reports to provide, both detailed and high level, information in such areas as financials, budget, and actual expenditures
  • Maintains knowledge of OMB uniform guidance super circular 2 CFR part 200 (formerly i A-133, A-87, A-122) and Maricopa Grant Manual

Working Conditions 

Office environment. Requires occasional personal or County vehicle use to travel to and from various County locations subject to County policies regarding the use of County or private vehicles used on County business.

Selection Procedure
